SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

As an onsite manager you will oversee all ranch operations including a mixed fruit orchard, olive production, organic vegetables, and maintaining landscaped gardens. You will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all ranch equipment and vehicles, as well as repair and maintenance of structures, trails, fences etc. Proper security measures need to be upheld. Your strong work ethic, integrity, ability to work independently and with our ranch team along with your positive attitude and passion for agriculture and farming activities are key attributes of this job.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The fundamental duties and tasks are defined as, but not limited to:

  • Vegetable Gardens, Flower Gardens, Orchard and Vineyard
  • Planning, tilling, planting, fertilizing, cultivating, spraying, irrigating, gopher/pest eradication, pruning, harvest, labor contractor scheduling, and wine maker inter face, all with an emphasis on quality control, efficiency and safety.
  • Pest management and monitoring for insect and disease pressure, coordinate and implement spray and fertilization programs.
  • Analyze soil and petioles to determine types or quantities of fertilizer required for maximum crop production in vineyard and orchard.
  • Responsible for detailed monthly documentation and record keeping of all chemicals, fertilizations, irrigation, sustainability and organic programs.
  • Monitor and adjust irrigation systems to distribute water according to crop needs and to avoid waste.

  • Maintain high standards of overall infrastructure.
  • Oversight and execution of maintenance and repairs.
  • Equipment
  • Purchase necessary supplies, equipment, or machinery, including seed, feed, fertilizer and chemicals.
  • Ensure proper functioning and maintenance and cleanliness of all equipment, keep records of oil and filter changes. Keeps tools and equipment clean and in working order.
  • Landscape and Open Range Land
  • Responsible for maintaining high standard of all aspects of ranch infrastructure including but not limited to: structures, fences, roads, gates, equipment, and fire prevention.
  • Livestock and Animal Care
  • Ensure that livestock and domestic animals are fed and turned out, and living conditions are well kept.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of pesticide regulation, and agricultural labor laws regarding work and safety.
  • Knowledgeable in the mechanical aspects of equipment operation to include but not limited to: trucks, tractors, dozer, back hoe, cultivation equipment, seeders, sprayers (including calibration) and farm welding.
  • Pest Control Advisor license, familiarity with Farm Labor Contractors
  • Willingness to work flexible extended hours during peak periods.
  • Adherence and compliance of all federal, state, municipal and ranch safety regulations.
  • Ability to speak/write English, Spanish a plus.
  • Due to the physical nature of this position, candidates must be hands on, and exhibit ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and lift 50 lbs. and operate tractors for extended periods.
  • Possibility for onsite living arrangements.
