We are seeking a reliable, experienced, and motivated full-time Ranch Hand / Manager to join our team. This role involves hands-on work with our purebred herd, daily operations, and general ranch maintenance. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in an outdoor, physically demanding environment and takes pride in high standards of animal care and property upkeep. On-site living arrangements are available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily herd checks — monitor cattle health, behavior, water systems, and pasture conditions.
- Handle all basic and advanced ranching duties, including:
- Feeding, watering, and moving cattle.
- Assisting with calving, weaning, processing, and vaccinations.
- Supporting breeding and genetics programs (AI, record-keeping for purebred registration).
- Fencing, pasture management, and water infrastructure maintenance.
- Operate and maintain ranch equipment (tractors, loaders, ATVs, etc.) safely and efficiently.
- Conduct yard and infrastructure maintenance, including repairs, groundskeeping, and general property upkeep.
- Maintain accurate records for herd management, health, and compliance.
- Work collaboratively as part of a small team while demonstrating independence and good judgment.
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as haying, winter feeding, and facility improvements as needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, biosecurity measures, and animal welfare standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous ranch or cattle operation experience is strongly preferred (cow-calf or purebred background is an asset).
- Strong cattle handling skills, including low-stress methods and calving experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort operating/maintaining farm equipment.
- Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver’s license (Class 1A is an asset).
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, honest, and safety-conscious with a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to work flexible hours during peak seasons (e.g., calving).
- Positive attitude and ability to live/work in a rural setting.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience (market rates typically range $20–$30+/hr for skilled hands; exact offer discussed with qualified candidates).
- On-site living arrangements provided (housing).
- Additional perks may include use of a ranch truck with fuel for work-related duties.
- Opportunity for growth as the herd expands.
- A supportive family-oriented work environment with modern facilities.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a stable, rewarding role on a growing, quality-focused purebred Angus operation.
