Manage 22,000 acres in excellent condition, located in Las Vegas, NM, with acreage at an elevation of 6900-8600 feet, with approximately 50 miles of improved roads. Property has 5 houses (including ranch manager house), indoor arena, horse barn, barn, camp that hosts legendary guests. Owner of the ranch lives in Houston, Texas. No commercial hunting (owner-only hunts; occasional elk hunts).
Duties include:
• Care of an average of 500 heads of cattle (Corriente) and approximately 35 recreational horses
• Manage and oversee all aspects of the ranch and up to four employees, in addition to contractors as needed
• Dude Ranch aspects (including providing guest riding lessons, trail rides and mountain wilderness pack trips)
•• Oversee organized rides, which includes two annual 4-day rides:
••• Men’s ride that hosts approximately 80 men
••• Ladies ride that hosts approximately 50 women
• Develop hunting, wildlife and conservation efforts
• Maintain small timber operation, forest stewardship, roads and all facilities
• Horse barn maintenance
Ideal Candidate Traits:
• Must be an excellent horseman
• Prior experience with horse/cattle management required
• Equipment operator a plus
• Husband/Wife team preferred, but not required
