Overview

Ranch Company owns and operates several thousand acres in North Texas. The ranch currently raises Black Angus cattle with plans to grow as grass and rain allow. The ranch also owns AQHA registered quarter horses, and is in the foundation stages of a breeding program. The ranch is occasionally used for hunting, however does not lease to outside parties. The ranch has several living and working structures, and several vehicle storage sheds. The ranch owns and maintains all vehicles and equipment necessary for the Ranch Manager job.

Job Responsibilities

The purpose of this Ranch Manager position is to oversee the daily management of the ranch and the wildlife of the property. The details of the job include but are not limited to:

o Development & execution of a profitable business plan for ranching operations
o Development & execution of a long-term land improvement plan
o Facilities management and maintenance
o Evaluate marketing or sales alternatives for farm or ranch products.
o Pasture wildlife management
o Negotiate with buyers for the sale, storage, or shipment of crops or livestock.
o Work with owners to maintain financial, operational, production, and employment records for any ranch employees.
o Brush Control via Chemical and/or Mechanical Treatments
o Heavy equipment operation: Backhoe, Dozer, Excavator and Tractors, or the supervision of contractors using this equipment
o Shredding and mowing
o Oversight of roads, gardens and landscaping
o Game inventory
o Record keeping of wildlife and ranch projects, preferably in paperless format
o Predator and Feral Hog control
o Filling feeders and ordering feed
o Planting pastures
o Lake and pond Management
o Fence Repair and upkeep
o Blind maintenance
o Pasture maintenance
o Water system maintenance and upkeep
o Coordinating small events with the landowner
o Vehicle and Equipment maintenance
o Livestock Care
o Equine Care
o Carpentry, Plumbing and Electrical Work as needed or supervision of contractors providing these services
o Working with the owner to enhance the ranch’s experience and overall health
o Any and all other duties assigned by owners

Qualifications

The owner of this property expects a pristine, functional and profitable ranch. The ranch is kept in immaculate shape and will expect to be maintained in this shape under new management. All of the equipment needed to take care of this ranch is in place and in good working order.

Qualified candidates will:
o Be willing and able to work independently with little or no supervision and have great communication skills
o Have previous experience supervising and effectively managing contract employees
o Have previous Ranch Management or Assistant Ranch Management experience
o Have wildlife or Agricultural background from education or life experience
o Have experience in Heavy equipment operation and maintenance
o Have experience in vehicle operation and maintenance
o Have quality people and guest relations skills
o Have knowledge in Chemical plant treatments for food plots, noxious weeds, grasses and brush
o Have a Chemical Applicators license a plus but not required
o Have skills in Carpentry, plumbing and electrical work
o Be self-motivated and high energy
o Have the ability to work with owners to create and manage ranch business plan and budget
o Have experience working with farm/ranch/livestock database
o Be an independent self-starter, flexibility
o Have the ability to work long hours, in cold or hot temperatures
o Have a valid Class A Texas drivers license and reliable transportation
o Be a team player, ‘find a way, or make one’ attitude
o Pass a criminal background check
