RANCH MANAGER WANTED

Description: Private family ranch looking for ranch manager/caretaker/foreman to bring the love and luster back to a beautiful, but aging, property in the hills above Cupertino, CA that has suffered from recent storms. Must live on site in foreman’s residence and manage day to day tasks as well as tend to needs of tenants and patrol property.

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Security-responsible for securing safety of houses, equipment, and property. Sometimes involves confronting trespassers.

Landscaping and planting vegetables—maintaining and new installation of fruit trees, flower beds, and vegetables, including germinating some from seeds. Tree trimming, mowing, brush clearing, and general upkeep of property including trail work.

Water management- maintain water lines, monitor wells, maintain septic tanks

Handyman- Basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry skills to fix things around ranch and in tenants’ houses.

Operate machinery- tractor, landscape machinery, tools, and riding mower, among others

Maintain, repair, and build fences as needed

Maintain pool

Management- Be able to manage work crews, interview prospective vendors, and manage tenants

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must be legally able to live and work in the US and must clear background check. Must have excellent communication skills to communicate regularly with both owners via email, text, and/or phone, contact owners in the event of an emergency, be a liaison between owners and tenants and represent owners’ interests when necessary, meet and report on status of ranch when owners are on site.
Must have excellent physical strength and stamina to meet the demands of this job. Must also be good at managing one’s time to prioritize diverse routine and emergent tasks. Must be disciplined (a self-starter,) reliable, get along with people easily, and responsible. Should have ranch experience, or at least most of the relevant skills. It would be a huge bonus if you have a network of people to call on in the area to help with bigger projects. No dangerous dogs. Must be willing and able to be flexible with work schedule as ranch work is not always an 8-5 job. Must be available to handle emergencies as they arise. Also must be willing to work some weekend days, especially in summer months and when owners ore on site.

JOB DETAILS: We are looking for someone who can start immediately and who is willing to make a commitment for at least one year, preferably longer. It is a salaried position (not less than $30 K, depending on experience and suitability.) Housing and utilities are included.
