Ranch Operations Supervisor
Canyon Madness Ranch – Northeastern New Mexico
Canyon Madness Ranch is seeking a hands-on Ranch Operations Supervisor for our approximately 14,000-acre property in northeastern New Mexico. The ranch includes extensive cattle and horse operations, two large canyons, guest facilities, and a distinctive lodge in a beautiful but very remote setting.
Because of the ranch’s remote location and diverse operations, we are looking for a versatile individual who is comfortable working independently and handling a wide range of day-to-day ranch responsibilities.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Cattle handling, feeding, monitoring, and general herd management
- Horse care, handling, and basic horsemanship
- Operating tractors, trucks, ATVs, and other ranch equipment
- Fence construction, inspection, and repair
- Monitoring and maintaining water systems, tanks, pipes, and related infrastructure
- Performing basic mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting
- Assisting with general ranch maintenance and property upkeep
- Supporting hunting, guest, and other ranch operations as needed
Experience with firearms, hunting operations, or shooting-sports equipment is a plus given the ranch’s recreational and firearms activities.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary is $30,000–$35,000 per year, depending on experience.
The position also includes a substantial benefits package intended to cover many ordinary living expenses, including:
- Private on-site housing in a two-bedroom, two-bath cabin
- Utilities
- Food and beverage allowance
- Fuel allowance
- Other ranch-related benefits as applicable
Because many normal living expenses are provided by the ranch, the total value of the compensation package is significantly greater than the cash salary alone.
Remote Location
Applicants should understand that Canyon Madness Ranch is located in a very remote area of northeastern New Mexico. Shopping, schools, healthcare, and other services are located a considerable distance from the property, and the nearest hospital is approximately two hours away.
The position is best suited to someone who enjoys rural living, is self-sufficient, can work independently, and is comfortable living and working in an isolated ranch environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have practical experience in several of the following areas:
- Cattle and livestock management
- Horsemanship
- Farm or ranch equipment operation
- Fencing
- Ranch water systems and plumbing
- Basic mechanical repair and maintenance
- Hunting or firearms-related activities
We do not expect every applicant to be an expert in every area. Strong judgment, reliability, willingness to learn, and the ability to communicate and follow established ranch procedures are important.
