Ranch Operator for Western South Dakota. We run 500-600hd spring and fall calving cow/calf operation. We put up our own feed. Semi-absentee owner.
You will be required to work (or physical labor) for all aspects of a ranch. You would be responsible for and have knowledge of year round managing and operating day to day operation single-handedly at times, with assistance from owner and day help as needed. This is not a startup operation has newer equipment. We utilize dams, multiple waterline systems and rotational grazing. We invest infrastructure and equipment to improve efficiency. We utilize 4whlrs, side by sides, dogs and horses given the situation and terrain. But an opportunity to build something or expand for the right person.
Housing will be provided, open to discussion towards bringing or investing in your own horses/cattle. Looking for someone with experience in cow/calf and haying management, preferably in the Dakotas. Waterline/well and mechanical experience a plus. Must be an experienced, forward thinking and self-starting coach manager with willingness to collaborate and communicate.
Headquarters is close to town with the good newer school (constantly adding/updating facilities), newer grocery store, bank, elevator, and parts/repair shop. Have good gravel roads.
Pay depends on experience, housing needs, and any contributory assets.
