Position Summary:

A private family-owned ranch is seeking an experienced ranch and property manager for their 2,000-acre property in Southern Oregon. The ranch and property manager will coordinate the management and operation of all property dwellings, cultivated and uncultivated acreage, riverfront land maintenance, and other as-needed activities.

This position will be in regular communication and work directly with the owners to execute the overall plan of the property. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and anticipate the needs of the property. An individual ranch and property manager or two-person team will be considered.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Protect, preserve and enhance all ranch assets and community relations.
  • Provide weekly activity reports to the owner and family office.
  • Provide updates and recommendations regarding dwelling and ranch maintenance while relaying needs as they arise.
  • Responsible for all operational aspects of the ranch including, but not limited to:
  • – – Security and maintenance of buildings, property and animals.
  • – – Coordinate recreational and agricultural operations to ensure that land and asset usage is optimized.
  • – – Develop and implement improvement plans for wildlife habitat, crops and weed control that optimize the aesthetic and recreational values of the ranch.
  • – – Perform and oversee all mowing, trimming, sweeping, raking and general landscape care at the various dwelling locations.
  • Maintain ranch acreage including ponds, streams, creeks and riverfront as well as wildlife management of deer, elk and other desirable wildlife in accordance with state and local laws.
  • Timely irrigation of hay and pastures for the use of the properties’ important water rights. This also includes developing maintenance and improvement schedules for ranch irrigation equipment, pipelines and water distribution system. Stay abreast of developments concerning water rights owned by the ranch.
  • Responsible for all buildings, roads, gates, and fencing and coordination with contractors, when needed. Ensure the ranch is in showplace condition at all times.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all residential household systems and be able to troubleshoot issues.
  • Manage three full-time employees and other part-time positions.
  • Willingness and ability to perform a wide variety of tasks and assignments for the owners whenever needed.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality relative to the ranch and the owners.

Core Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have prior experience as a ranch manager.
  • Must have working knowledge and direct experience with required ranch equipment including tractors, excavators and irrigation equipment.
  • Must be proficient with computers and have a working knowledge of accounting, financial analysis, and budgeting.
  • Must have a sense of urgency and be able to self-prioritize tasks to meet the needs of the family and property.
  • Prior experience managing large acreage and irrigation systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and can effectively communicate with the owners, family office, ranch hands and all external service providers.
  • Effectively interact with local, state, and federal agencies regarding regulatory matters, as required.
  • Experience working for an UHNW family a plus.
  • Possess exceptional integrity, discretion, and tact with a primary objective to serve and protect the family’s interests in all regards.
