We are building a multi-faceted regenerative ranch in North Texas and seeking an experienced, hands-on Ranch Manager to lead operations from the ground up. This is a startup-phase role: initiating a vegetable crop farm (regenerative/no-till focus), regenerative livestock (cattle, sheep, chickens with intensive rotational/mob grazing and soil health emphasis), and a high-fenced exotic game preserve for sustainable populations and non-commercial hunting.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong leadership, deep knowledge of regenerative agriculture, Texas wildlife/exotic regulations (TPWD), and multi-enterprise management. You will maximize productivity, sustainability, animal/habitat health, and profitability while fostering a safe, professional, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute annual plans, budgets, and long-term goals aligned with regenerative principles.
  • Oversee daily operations across vegetable crops, livestock, exotics, infrastructure, and team.
  • Ensure full compliance with TPWD exotic permits, TDA/TAHC rules, TCEQ water rights, Jack CAD ag valuation, and other regs.
  • Manage regenerative vegetable production: rotations, cover crops, no-till, composting, IPM, irrigation, soil health, harvesting, yields/costs tracking, water conservation.
  • Lead regenerative livestock: herd health/breeding/nutrition/welfare, mob grazing for soil/pasture improvement, fencing/water systems, detailed records.
  • Handle high-fence exotic game: population monitoring/health checks/sourcing/culling, habitat management (food plots/native plantings), 8ft+ fence/gate/camera maintenance, TPWD compliance (reports/permits/harvest records), assist non-commercial hunts.
  • Supervise property/infrastructure: repairs to fences/roads/buildings/barns/wells/ponds, heavy equipment operation/maintenance, erosion/brush/habitat enhancements.
  • Manage finances/admin: budgets/expense tracking, records for tax exemptions/grants (NRCS/EQIP), purchasing/payroll/vendors, marketing products (veggies/meat/hunts/breeding stock) via website/social/direct sales.
  • Lead team/guest relations: hire/train/supervise hands/seasonal workers/guides, performance reviews/safety training, host hunters/visitors professionally, build positive regenerative-focused culture.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years ranch management experience, preferably mixed (crops + livestock + wildlife/exotics).
  • Proven success in regenerative practices (rotational grazing, soil health, cover cropping).
  • Knowledge of Texas exotic game/TPWD regulations.
  • Experience in vegetable crop production.
  • Strong mechanical skills (equipment maintenance, fencing, construction).
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to operate heavy machinery.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and digital/record-keeping skills.
  • Physical ability for ranch labor (lifting, fencing, animal handling).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree/certifications in agriculture, animal science, wildlife management, or related.
  • Experience with high-fence exotics, NRCS programs/grants, Texas water rights/ag valuation/tax exemptions.
  • Firearm proficiency and hunter safety certification.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time, year-round; includes weekends/holidays during peaks (planting, calving, hunting).
  • Exposure to Texas weather; occasional overnight travel for ranch activities.

We are just starting implementation and want the right hands-on leader to help shape the farm, livestock, and overall operations—someone self-motivated to build the team and hit timelines.
