Summary

This is a seasonal position with housing and utilities supplied. This is a land-based position. Please note that applicants must be eligible to live and work in the United States, as we are unable to provide visa sponsorship.

Lazy T Ranch is a family-owned and operated horse and cattle ranch located within the basin of the Bighorn Mountains near Ten Sleep, Wyoming.

This won’t always be an easy job, but it will be rewarding. It’s a beautiful part of Wyoming with an average of only 50 inches of snowfall a year without the intense wind common to most parts of the State. We produce some of the highest quality horses and beef available on the market and we do it all in a great little community with wonderful schools, a low crime rate, and amazing people. Immediate Supervisors – This position directly reports to the Ranch & Guest Services Manager

Supervisory Authority

There are no direct supervisory responsibilities. This position will be required to show leadership and professionalism and work well with guests, partners, and others on or working for the Lazy T Ranch to accomplish the vision of the Ranch.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to duties imposed by the owners from time to time, the Ranch Services Manager will assign duties and responsibilities to the Caretaker / Ranch Hand which shall include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • The ability to implement, maintain, grow, cultivate, and process a garden is a plus.
  • Clean, maintain, recover, and prepare hot tubs, playgrounds, water park, ponds, docks & recreational watercraft/toys.
  • Manage processes to keep outdoor facilities free of rodents, varmints, wasps, and other insects.
  • Clean, prepare, and manage readiness of residential and outdoor cooking areas including cutting, splitting, and stacking wood.
  • Maintain a small set of kennels and love on the ranch pets housed there.
  • Maintain outdoor patios, furniture, and exterior windows at ranch facilities.
  • Assist the landscaping and groundskeeping team with daily facilities care.
  • Responsible for supporting the owner, guest, family, and event facilities’ exterior appearance. This can be general maintenance of areas during the summer, spring & fall, and snow and ice removal during the winter. Snowplow experience is a plus if working into that time of year.
  • Specialty vehicle care and maintenance. This would include cleaning & refueling vehicles used in support of special guests and owners.
  • Clean, prepare, and manage the readiness of aviation hangers including the use of floor cleaners.

Other

  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly manner with owners, co-workers, the community, and guests.
  • Ability to ensure that confidential matters remain confidential.
  • Remain open to tasks assigned by the Ranch Managers and be flexible to the needs of other Ranch programs.
  • Able to research best practices, solutions, and practical approaches to assigned tasks, supplies, repairs, replacement, or upgrading of tools and processes.
  • Able to use computer and smartphone technology-based systems such as Outlook, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams), WhatsApp, Monday, Wi-Fi calling, and other programs/apps.
  • Provides own phone (Verizon recommended due to coverage) to real-time communicate with ranch staff.
  • Keep, manage, and maintain a clean, organized, and stocked warehouse, work areas, assigned ranch vehicle, and home.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications and Requirements

  • Diverse and capable experience in the area being applied for.

  • Have a current driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record and be insurable by the ranch’s standards.
  • Desire to work with a great team.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications as required.
  • Represent the ranch professionally in both your professional and personal life.

Salary – Salary is negotiable and based on experience. It includes a residence and all utilities including internet.

  • The position is a seasonal position starting April 1, and ending September 30, 2024.
  • The pay range is $3,000 to $3,500 monthly (salary position) with housing, utilities, and a ranch vehicle for ranch work only, as needed.
  • Must be able to provide both personal and professional references.
