ISO Feedlot Feeder and Maintenance

(Seasonal, with Full-Time Potential)

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking individual for a seasonal position in our feedlot operation. The Feedlot Feeder and Maintenance role is responsible for feeding cattle accurately and efficiently, monitoring animal health, and maintaining feedlot equipment, facilities, and grounds. This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail, basic mechanical ability, and a commitment to animal welfare and safe operations. For the right candidate, this seasonal position may lead to a full-time opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

Feeding & Livestock Care

  • Operate feed trucks, loaders, and related equipment to prepare and deliver feed rations.
  • Ensure cattle receive proper feed amounts according to nutritionist or manager instructions.
  • Monitor cattle behavior, feed consumption, and pen conditions; report any health or welfare concerns.

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on feed trucks, tractors, loaders, water systems, fencing, and other equipment.
  • Keep feed mill, bunks, and pens in good working order.
  • Maintain water tanks and systems to ensure consistent water supply.
  • Operate and maintain general shop tools safely and effectively.

General Duties

  • Assist with seasonal projects (pen cleaning, fencing, corral repair, etc.).
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Work collaboratively with other crew members to ensure smooth daily operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous livestock or feedlot experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment such as feed trucks, loaders, tractors, and basic shop tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Work Schedule & Compensation:

  • Seasonal position, typically lasting October-June.
  • Full-time hours during the season; schedule may vary depending on cattle and operational needs.
  • Some weekends and holidays required.
  • Competitive wages based on experience.
