A private family is seeking a seasonal Groundskeeper in Meagher County Montana. The Mission is to provide the principles, security, and stability by supporting the maintenance of grounds at this property. This includes strong attention to details in regularly maintaining grounds via landscaping, irrigation, trail and weed management.

This privately-owned estate comprises some 21,000 acres of vistas that mix rugged mountains, deep lush valleys, and peaceful, restorative woodlands. The sparkling energy from crisp, clear rivers runs through the land, year-round. Here, you can encounter a wonderful diversity of native wildlife. The ranch maintains a 400 head cow/calf operation and a limited number of horses. There are over 300 acres of irrigated meadows with the balance of the ranch primarily native range, sage-dominated foothills, and timber.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this position, the job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Landscape Maintenance: Mowing, debris clean up, weeding, aerating, watering, fertilizing, trimming, arena grooming, and pruning. Including lawns, meadows, gardens, and trails ensuring appropriate service levels are always maintained for the family.
  • Be involved in all aspects of outdoor ground maintenance: Irrigation systems, and installation, weeding, mowing, trimming, gardening, and the general beautification of grounds.
  • Light woodworking, fence, gates, walkways maintenance and repair.
  • Wash and detail company vehicles, mowers and all terrain equipment.
  • Operates equipment such as, but not limited to mowers, push and zero turn, blowers, edgers, and string trimmers. Notifies supervisor if equipment malfunctions or necessary equipment maintenance is required.
  • Follow safety procedures provided by supervisor.
  • Ensure that the barn, shop areas and equipment are always impeccably clean and well maintained.
  • Preparation of outdoor areas for seasonal or unexpected weather by securing furniture, vehicles, equipment and other items as needed.
  • Assist with trash removal and hauling for all buildings and ranch property.
  • Maintain the highest level of hospitality services, always alert, friendly, and able to assist principal and guests politely and promptly.
  • Ensure the highest standards of first aid, safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene are met.
  • Possess a positive and outgoing personality, a true service heart and shares that in interactions with principal, guests and coworkers.
  • Maintaining confidentiality regarding principals, guests and day-to-day activities is essential.
  • All other duties as assigned.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

ACCOMMODATIONS

This is a Live-in position. Housing and Meals provided daily.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • General groundkeeper knowledge and experience.
  • Lodge Grounds / Golf Course / Trail Systems experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience with mowers, hand tools, etc. preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and consistently producing quality work.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The candidate must have the ability to speak and understand English, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The candidate must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must be US Citizen or legally able to work in US
  • Driver’s License*

*This position requires the operation of a vehicle, candidate must possess a valid Driver’s License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment. The candidate’s driving record must meet the standards and requirements of the Company and the Company’s insurance carrier. CDL license and experience a plus.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Employee must adhere to Company and property policies and procedures, which are included in the Company’s Employee Handbook.
  • Candidate may be subject to undergo pre-employment drug test, (after offer is given but before applicant has commenced work). Random drug tests are given throughout the year.
  • Must have a personal vehicle to travel from location to local town for personal needs.
  • The Company operates as a drug free/smoke free workplace. Smoking is not allowed on the property, to include but is not limited to, company housing, vehicles, offices or on company machines.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings, background and reference checks

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/ move up to 50 pounds. Operation of loaders, tractors, mowers and other heavy machinery.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet, hot or humid conditions; work near moving mechanical parts; outdoor weather conditions; extreme heat or cold.

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

Compensation: $20.00 – $25.00 Depending on experience and skill set.

Work Hours: Monday through Friday 7:30am – 5pm and Saturdays 7:30am-12pm (noon). Includes one hour lunch.

Seasonal Dates: June through October
