NOT YOUR TYPICAL RANCH JOB! Seeking to fill full-time, year-round position in Wyoming.
Description: Seeking a widely skilled individual for a full-time/year-round position on our holistically managed multiple-enterprise ranch in the beautiful Black Hills of Wyoming.
This would be the perfect job for someone who does not want to do the same thing every day, who is excited by the variety of what we do here and who’s willing to learn.
We run a cow-calf operation, have a small guest ranching business, are hunting outfitters and produce horse hay for sale. You would be working in a small team and should be a natural leader who can help with organizing the workload within the team.
Depending on the time of the year you would do – or oversee – the following tasks:
Livestock work:
Move livestock, mostly on horseback
Carry out the rotational grazing for our livestock
Feed, doctor and calve cattle
Horse work:
Train horses
Trim hooves
Repair tack
Ranch work:
Hay, farm, spray fields
Build and maintain fence (barb wire, electric, woven wire, wooden corrals)
Operate, repair and maintain equipment, some welding
Repair and maintain buildings (i.e. wood work, painting, plumbing, electrical, heating, roofing)
Guest work:
Interact with riding guests and allow them to participate in ranch work when practical (You would NOT be the wrangler!)
Guide hunters in fall (deer/antelope)
Requirements:
Have some experience with most of the above mentioned activities
Understand or be willing to learn Natural Horsemanship/Low-Stress Livestock Handling
Be a good and confident rider
Need to own a vehicle
Valid driver’s license
Non-smokers preferred. Responsible use (if any) of alcohol.
Compensation:
Monthly wage DOE plus housing (not shared), utilities, worker’s compensation insurance, and other benefits.
