The Stables Manager leads the daily operations of the Sun Valley stables and equine program, ensuring exceptional horse care, safe and efficient operations, and high-quality guest experiences. This role oversees staff, horses, scheduling, and facility standards while serving as a visible, guest-facing leader within the resort’s recreation offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily stables operations, including staff scheduling, horse care, and facility management.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all horses through feeding programs, veterinary coordination, and daily assessment.
- Lead, train, and supervise stable staff to deliver safe, professional, and welcoming guest experiences.
- Coordinate and book trail rides, wagon rides, and private sleigh rides.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of stables, paddocks, and equipment.
- Enforce safety protocols for horses, staff, and guests.
- Order and manage feed, supplies, and equipment.
- Serve as a guest-facing representative of the stables, providing excellent customer service and addressing questions or concerns.
- Help establish and follow yearly business plan goals.
Qualifications
- Previous stable or equine facility management experience required.
- Strong horse handling skills and knowledge of equine care.
- Proven leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.
Preferred Skills
- Trailer driving and tractor operation experience.
- Maintenance or repair skills.
