We are small Norwegian Fjord Horse farm in SW Montana with a busy summer season of foaling, breeding, training, exercising AND using our horses to provide behavioral health for people of all ages.  Great opportunity for someone entering the field of equine-assisted therapy, psychology, equine breeding/management, pre-veterinary or farm-life skills.   Excellent course credit and resume building opportunity.   Housing and utilities provided now – October 31.  Preference given to longer stays and potential long-term stay available.

Interns should be willing to:

  • Exert physical energy
  • AM/PM feeding, manure clean-up and animal care twice daily, 7 days/week
  • Work varied hours
  • Manage horses in-need on very regular intervals
  • Get down and dirty
  • Groom, lead, tie every day
  • Handle stallions
  • Handle foals and assist with birthing at varied hours
  • Lift heavy feed bags
  • Learn new horsemanship and farm management skills
  • Assist with behavioral health programs
  • Assist with fundraising and special events
  • Be open-minded and willing to “think outside the box”
  • Forego drinking, smoking and drug use
  • Provide a resume
  • Provide references and
  • Provide a background check

No day is the same and varied things come up regularly so qualified interns must be willing and able to be flexible and openminded to changes in plans.

Please, NO PETS.

Please note:  If you are looking to cowboy, wrangle, ride regularly, or be “out on the range”, there is a better suited internship for you.  Our focus is to  provide learning and therapeutic experiences, care for and breed horses and handle foals every day.  It IS a great internship for someone wanting horse management/handling/care and equine-assisted therapy experience.

This is an internship for experience and resume building.  Housing and utilities are provided, but no stipend.
