A private ranch with locations in Pemberton and Cariboo, British Columbia, is seeking a capable and motivated rider for a summer internship from approximately June through to the end of August. This position is ideal for a confident Western rider looking to further develop their horsemanship through riding and hands-on involvement in daily horse care.

The intern will work directly with the barn manager in a program with 16-20 horses, assisting with barn duties, participating in regular training and riding sessions, and occasionally assisting the ranch family with property management.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily care of horses (morning/evening feeds, mucking)
• Grooming, tacking, and handling horses safely
• Riding or exercising horses on a regular schedule
• General property upkeep

Riding & Training

A key component of this internship is the opportunity to train and ride with the barn manager. The selected rider should be comfortable riding a wide variety of horses and interested in improving skills in natural horsemanship, cattle work, reining, and ranch riding. Riding and training schedules will be arranged around the intern’s availability and the needs of the horses.

Ideal Candidate

• Confident and capable rider with experience in Western riding
• Prior experience handling and riding a variety of horses
• Reliable, hardworking, and comfortable with daily barn responsibilities
• Interested in developing both riding ability and practical horse management skills
• Comfortable working outdoors regularly during hot summer months
