We are looking for a dependable individual or couple to help on our ranch in northern Montana this winter and spring.

October–March, with the possibility of extending into a permanent position for the right fit.

$17–$20/hour DOE

Housing provided

This is a hands-on ranch position involving livestock care, winter feeding, equipment maintenance, farm equipment preparation, and shop projects. This is not primarily a cowboy/horse job, although if you have horses and are interested in bringing them, that is something we can discuss.

Duties include:

  • Feeding grain and hay to yearlings in the feedlot
  • Mixing and feeding hay to bred cows and bulls
  • Checking and maintaining water
  • Snow removal as needed
  • Maintaining and repairing equipment
  • Repairing and prepping farm equipment for spring seeding
  • Assisting with winter shop projects
  • Loading trucks with grain to haul to town
  • Calving February–March
  • Night checks during calving
  • Tagging and vaccinating calves
  • Cleaning barns
  • Pairing out cows and calves
  • Identifying and treating sick animals as needed

We are looking for someone who is dependable, hardworking, responsible with livestock, and comfortable working outside in Montana winters.

Ranch/livestock experience and mechanical, farm equipment, or trucking experience are a plus. We are willing to consider someone with a strong work ethic and the right attitude who is willing to learn.
