We are seeking a dependable, legitimately experienced individual to managing and maintaining our working cattle ranch located near Big Timber, Montana. This is a full-time opportunity on a well-established 500 head cow/calf operation with hay production and native grass. We use a team approach with employee relationships and the ranch owner also lives on the ranch about half the year.
Responsibilities:
- Daily care and management of a 500 cow/calf cattle operation
- Feeding, calving, and general heard health
- Operating and maintaining normal farm and ranch equipment
- Hay production
- Fence building and repair
- General ranch maintenance and upkeep to fairly high standards
- Helping and teaching the assigned tasks for the H2A and other employees
- Weed spraying and pasture management
Qualifications:
- Proven experience working with cattle operations
- Strong knowledge of farm and ranch equipment operation and maintenance
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently, or work well with others
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be willing to use both ATV’s and horses
- A complete work resume in addition to work references must be provided
- Above average communication skills
- Low stress livestock handling practices
- Understanding of regenerative agricultural practices
