R-Ranch at the Lake (www.r-ranch.net) is located above the hills of Napa, California in beautiful wine country. We are looking to fill short-term and seasonal positions for the stables. R-Ranch is a beautiful facility on 1,093 acres with 300 RV sites, 100 cabins, store, 50 horses, Napa County’s largest swimming pool, miniature golf, hiking trails, planned activities, and lots of other amenities.

R-Ranch at the Lake is located above the hills of Napa, just minutes from Lake Berryessa.

We are a family friendly, year-round resort offering a host of amenities including horses, swimming pool, tennis, mini golf, and miles of trails!

We are a hospitality venue, providing owner services for over 1000 owners and their family/friends. The the ideal candidate(s) will have verifiable experience in the stable industry, preferably on a large scale, campground or similar.

The right person(s) will understand the value of quality customer service, possess a natural ability to adapt in a diverse environment, and recognize the importance of balance between all departments within such an organization.

Wrangler Job Responsibilities Include:

• At least 18 years old.
• Guide guests on trail rides and give guests instruction in basic horsemanship, riding lessons and horse care.
• Interact with guests to make each ride safe, educational, and fun.
• Daily feeding and caring of horses.
• Assist Stable Supervisor to assign horses to guests to fit their skill level, experience, and size
• Assist Stable Supervisor to assign guests into riding groups, using whatever criteria the ranch has established
• Telling endless (clean) jokes and humorous stories.
• Perform barn and tack maintenance ensuring all is safe and in good working order.
• Maintaining facilities, corrals, arena, trails, grounds.
• Trail maintenance, fencing and general ranch chores.
• Maintaining and alerting supervisor when vehicles and ranch equipment are broken.
• Ambitious, hardworking, with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Able to get along well with our guests (read this again).

• Familiar with riding in rough terrain, have a good sense of direction, and experience with novice riders.
• Caring for and identifying sick/injured animals
• Knowledge of safety standards for horse care as well as handling and equipment used in horse care
• First-Aid and CPR certification a plus
• Able to lift (at minimum) 85 pounds
