JOB SUMMARY
As a Wrangler, you will serve as the primary caretaker and guide for our horses and livestock, ensuring both animal welfare and guest safety. You’ll prepare horses for daily activities, lead guided trail rides and arena lessons, and maintain a safe, enjoyable environment for riders of all skill levels. In addition to expert horsemanship, you’ll perform general ranch maintenance, uphold facility cleanliness, and support special events. The ideal candidate combines strong riding and equine knowledge, excellent communication, and a genuine passion for working with both animals and people.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Care for and manage livestock, ensuring their health and safety. Checking for illness and injury daily
- Help coordinate daily riding operations, including trail rides, arena activities and guest interaction
- Adhere to company uniform standards (boots, long pants, long sleeved shirts, hat, name tag)
- Attend work on time as scheduled and adhere to attendance policy. Practice consistent time clock procedures for proper payroll.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Communicate all concerns, questions, potential problems, and safety issues with Managers and Supervisors.
- Participate in all required training, and safety meetings.
- Attend and pass any first aid training provided by the company
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure proper conditions for animals.
- Vehicle preventative maintenance and cleanliness.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
Animal Care & Horsemanship
- Oversee daily care, health, and conditioning of horses
- Monitor animal behavior and well-being; coordinate with veterinarians and farriers as needed
- Ensure horses are properly trained, matched to rider ability, and prepared for activities
- Proper saddling techniques
Ranch & Facility Maintenance Safety
- Oversee cleanliness, organization, and safety of barns, arenas, corrals, and riding areas
- Operate and supervise use of equipment, farm machinery, and power tools
- Perform or delegate routine maintenance of equipment, tack, and facilities
- Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience and confidence in driving a full-size truck are required, and the ability to safely tow and maneuver a horse trailer is strongly preferred.
Collaboration & Special Projects
- Work closely with operations, events, and hospitality teams to support club activities
- Assist with planning and execution of special events, seasonal programming, and group rides
- Maintain records related to livestock care, equipment maintenance, and safety inspections
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, sit, walk for six to ten hours a day as required.
- Ability to use various tools and equipment as required.
- Bend at the waist, twist upper body, kneel, crawl, climb, reach above shoulders, flex and extend ankle, knee, and hip joints.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs., push and pull 10-20 lbs. Including heavy saddles up to 30-50 lbs., and bales of hay.
- Work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Typical Schedule & Work Hours
- Full Time Seasonal (May-October) Rotational schedule, 5 days per week, includes holidays and weekends. A flexible schedule is required.
- Time off is to be requested 2 weeks in advance, preferably more, and is not guaranteed. Blackout dates will occur.
