Camp Grady Spruce, YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas
The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, established in 1885, consists of 16 branches and one destination camp and employs over 2,000 staff – all dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected, and secure children, adults, families and communities. We are currently seeking Wranglers to serve at our Camp Grady Spruce.
Camp Grady Spruce is located on Possum Kingdom Lake, which is approximately 120 miles west of Dallas, and covers over 600 acres. This co-ed camp is a year round camp; offering Summer Camp, Outdoor Education, Family Camping and Group Conferences.
Under the direct supervision of the Equestrian Director, Wranglers will maintain horses, fields and curriculum for horse activities. Wranglers will work directly with campers and guests, leading trail rides and lessons. Food and lodging is provided during the resident care of campers and/or program delivery.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES / POSITION RESPONSIBILITY:
The Wrangler will work in all programming in the Equine department. They will be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations at the corral. They will help get horses ready for each day of activities. They will also be responsible for the health and safety of the horses and maintaining equipment under his/her supervision.
Will report accidents and incidents to Equestrian Director. They must report broken and needed equipment to the Equestrian Director. They are responsible for overseeing the cleanup of activities and program area.
Will assist in other duties including, but not limited to: overseeing campers, corral clean-up, maintaining trails, weed eating and working with the Equestrian Director to ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone who comes to Camp Grady Spruce. Will work a few weekends.
