Position Summary:

Dressed in traditional western attire, conduct trail and hayrides. Responsible for all tacking of horses in order to lead trail rides of varying lengths for guests at the Hualapai Ranch. Assist guests on and off of horses or hay wagon and ensure equipment is properly positioned and in safe condition. Conduct trail and hay rides with safety in mind at all times. Entertain guests during rides by talking about the Ranch, Grand Canyon West, cowboy ways , etc. Assists with feeding the horses and other barn duties. Ensures guests have an outstanding western experience while at the Hualapai Ranch. May participate in western activities, such as mock gunfights and cowboy games. Wrangler must have their own gear, such as saddle.

Knowledge and Abilities:

1. Ability to tack horses and perform barn duties, such as feeding horses and cleaning stalls.
2. Experienced riding horses.
3. Ability to interact with guests and tour groups and provide prompt, outstanding customer service while providing information.
4. Ability to communicate in a clear concise manner while being personable, courteous and friendly.
5. Ability to discuss and demonstrate traditional cowboy ways and customs.
6. Ability to work in a team environment, multi-task efficiently and maintain positive working relationships.
7. Ability to cross train and assist Street Entertainers.
8. Knowledge of Grand Canyon West locations and operations, Hualapai history and culture.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Dress in traditional western clothing and conduct trail rides and hay rides. Assist guests on and off of horses or hay wagon.
2. Entertain guests during rides by talking about the Ranch, Grand Canyon West, cowboy stories, etc.
3. May assist Street Entertainers and participate in mock gunfights, demonstrate cowboy games and assist guests as they try the games for themselves.
4. Respond to guests questions regarding Grand Canyon West, Hualapai Ranch, Skywalk, Hualapai River Running and Hualapai Lodge.
5. Tack horses for trail rides. Perform barn duties, feed horses and clean stalls.
6. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Good oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and outgoing personality.
2. High School Diploma or GED.
3. Prior experience as a wrangler preferred.
4. Experienced at horseback riding.
5. Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.

Working Conditions:

Position requires ability to work outdoors for long periods of time, regardless of weather conditions and clean barn stalls. Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays. Dress in western attire. Required to lift up to 50 lbs.
