A unique opportunity for ranch living in the heart of central Texas. Located outside of Round Top Texas, we have 80 acres of rolling hills and trees in need of monitoring and attention.
It is situated between Austin and Houston, and surrounded by many ranches where full-time employment is available in Fayette County. We're looking for an individual, or established semi-retired or retired couple, with ranching experience to live on the land, free of charge, in their own airstream or large trailer. Mobile homes are not permitted. Utilities will be provided, and discounted based on number of individuals and horses. Water is provided by the county water supply.
A dedicated area of land will be determined for placement of trailer, private garden, etc. There is plenty of room to provide for dedicated pastures and turn-out pens for horses (approximately 5 acres, all included at no charge). Only 15 head of cattle graze the larger acreage at the rear of the property. But the entire property is available for riding.
This individual will be asked to keep an eye on things when the owner is not on the property. The owner visits on weekends only and has a dedicated home for that purpose. We're looking for a long-term arrangement that is suitable for both parties. Responsibilities would include: making sure new trees/landscape are watered as needed, monitoring conditions of fence lines with occasional weed control applied, monitoring arrival of contractors hired to work at the home (planned for full restoration), caring for ones dedicated space around trailer, and generally be there to communicate issues to the Owner remotely. Arrangement would be bound by a written agreement stating terms and duration of time.
Salary: No salary – just available land and utilities for individual and their horses in exchange for light duties & watching the place.
