Position Summary:

Willow Creek Ranch(WCR) / Perfect Light Ranch(PLR) is seeking an experienced full-time Assistant Ranch Manager to live onsite and assistant in the management of the ranch year round. The position reports to the Ranch Manager and is responsible for helping to ensure the overall operation of the ranch.

Excellent benefit and compensation package is provided including on-site housing, industry leading base salary depending on experience, end of year performance bonus, health insurance, housing, and PTO (Paid-Time Off).

Ranch Description:

WCR and PLR are 2 private ranches totaling approximately 25,000 acres, with WCR comprising approximately 20,000, and PLR 5,000. Between the 2 there are approximately 40 total structures, 2 pivots, and 10 ponds. Both ranches are within 20 miles of each other, located just minutes away from Livingston, MT. The ranches are managed for wildlife and recreation, and do offer commercial hunting. Employee housing is located on-site at WCR.

Grazing(WCR) and haying production(WCR & PLR) are leased out.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must have minimum of 2 years crew leadership experience with emphasis on speed, efficiency, and above all, safety
  • Needs to be available 24/7 as needed for the owners, ranch manager, and guests
  • Must have experience supporting the management of a large ranch. Experience in the hospitality and/or outdoor recreation industry is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills – ownership, guests, employees, suppliers and vendors
  • Capability to host and support guests with a user friendly personality
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability is a MUST ***
  • Competent computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Working knowledge of septic, well, electrical, construction/carpentry, mechanical and HVAC systems
  • Welding experience
  • Equipment operation and maintenance
  • General knowledge and experience of various irrigation types
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
  • College degree preferred

Position Duties/Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  • Project oversight and leadership
  • Field workup and planting using tractors and equipment
  • Trail mowing and clearing
  • Water tank work (repair, replace, maintenance)
  • Fencing (repairing, pulling, and installing)
  • Irrigation (pivot, flood, hand-line)
  • Piling and burning of slash piles
  • Vehicle and equipment maintenance
  • General repairs of buildings/structures/equipment/vehicles
  • Troubleshooting and fixing various problems/issues that may arise
  • Looking up and ordering parts/material
  • Some guest entertainment
