Description of Operation:
Mill Iron Ranches is comprised of 20,000 acres in the Texas Panhandle 30 miles outside of Childress, TX. The ranch currently run 400 mother cows/heifers. The ranch also runs a commercial deer and quail hunting operation, with some farming activity.
Position:
Assistant Ranch Manager
Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing all aspects of the cattle operation including breeding, feeding, minor veterinary care, buying, and sales.
- Oversee Wildlife Management plan and Commercial Hunting Activities
- Assist in overseeing grazing plans and overall range management
- Running, or overseeing running and maintaining of heavy machinery – ranch owns its own bulldozer, backhoe, motor grader, tractors, dump truck, etc.
- Overall maintenance and repairs to ranch equipment and infrastructure
- Oversee farming responsibilities
- Obtain and supervise additional laborers as needed.
Other Duties:
- Oversee additional land parcels and buildings owned by the ranch and family throughout Collingsworth County
Qualifications:
- Motivated individual
- Ranch Management Certificate or College degree
- Experience and in-depth knowledge of cattle
- Familiarity with heavy machinery
- Willingness to learn/oversee the hunting operation
- Familiarity with horses
- Welding and Mechanical skills preferred
