
Joshua Creek Ranch
A Cook at Joshua Creek Ranch will employ both culinary and time management skills in order to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the upscale Guest dining experience at Joshua Creek Ranch, one of the premier hunting lodges and sporting resorts in the world. This Cook position will work as part of a back-of-house team of 4-5 culinary specialists led by a talented Executive Chef.
Responsibilities:
- Support Executive Chef and BOH Team in delivering a 5-star culinary experience for guests
- Food preparation and cooking for breakfast/lunch, dinner, and/or special events as scheduled
- Cooking in multiple outlets including both public and private guest dining venues
- Lodge-style dining during hunting season, lodge-style + casual menu dining in the summer resort season
- Known for fine dining menu featuring wild game, gourmet cuisine, and regional favorites
- Oversee food quality, consistency, timeliness, and guest satisfaction during scheduled shifts
- Strict adherence to Ranch recipes and menu rotations as set by Executive Chef
- Standard operating procedures in accordance with food/health safety policies
- Help maintain all kitchen facilities, equipment, and kitchenware
- Resourceful troubleshooting and issue resolution as needed
- Contribute to a positive work environment keeping team chemistry and professionalism as a high priority
- Develop solid working relationship with FOH team, Event Coordinators, Guest Services, Management, and Ownership
- Assist with special events planning and new recipe development
- Ability to interact with guests when appropriate
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a commercial cook and/or sous chef
- Hospitality mindset
- Versatile team player who is passionate about cooking
- Organized, resourceful, and self-sufficient
- Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Works with a “clean as you go” mentality (and doesn’t mind washing dishes)
- Familiar with industry best practices
- BS degree in Culinary science or related certificate would be a plus
- Food handler’s and Food manager’s certificate
- Ideal candidate might live in NW San Antonio, Boerne, Comfort, Kerrville (surrounding Hill Country area northwest of San Antonio) and/or not mind commuting to rural location 15 minutes north of downtown Boerne (45 minutes northwest of downtown San Antonio)
- Compensation Depends on Experience
- Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and most holidays (as scheduled)
- Must be reliable, flexible, and ready/willing to work as scheduled
Compensation:
- Combined Hourly Rate Up to $30+/Hour DOE (Base Rate + Monthly Service Fees)
