Position #1 – Elk Hunting Guide
- All hunting guide applicants must:
- Be 18 years or older
- Have a valid drivers license
- Speak and write english
- Have experience with horses and or mules
- Be certified in first Aid/CPR
- Have a good attitude
- Be willing to learn
- Have prior elk hunting experience (preferably guiding and or packing)
- Be able to work alone and with others
- Be willing to put in long, hard days
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Guiding clients on both backcountry and private ranch hunts
- Packing camps and clients in and out of the backcountry
- Clearing trails
- Feeding and caring for livestock
- Saddling saddle and pack stock daily
- Packing, skinning and caping of game animals
- Salary: $3,000-$4,000/ month + tips
- Please do not apply for this job if you do not have prior guiding experience or personal experience hunting elk.
Position 2 – Packer:
Hells Canyon Outfitters is also looking for a Packer for the fall season . This is a job for someone that wants to get their foot in the door and learn about the hunting industry in a fun and rewarding work environment.
All packer applicants must:
- Be willing to ride a mule
- Be able to provide references
- Be 18 years or older
- Have a valid drivers license
- Speak and write english
- Have a good attitude
- Be willing to learn
- Be able to work alone
- Be able to work with others
- Be willing to help with everything that goes into the hunting business
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Feeding and caring for livestock, general maintenance and general labor.
- Please have prior packing experience
Salary: DOE
Position 3 – Backcountry cook
Hells Canyon Outfitters is looking for a backcountry cook for this fall. This job entails going into the wilderness on horseback and cooking out of a backcountry wall tent camp. Most of the time you will be cooking 3 meals/day for groups of 4-8 people. This is a fun and rewarding work environment.
All backcountry cook applicants must:
- Be willing to ride a mule
- Be able to provide references
- Be 18 years or older
- Have a valid drivers license
- Speak and write English
- Have a good attitude
- Be willing to learn
- Have prior commercial cooking experience (preferably outdoors)
- Be able to work alone
- Be able to work with others
- Be willing to put in long days and stay in the wilderness for extended periods of time
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Cooking for guides and clients in the backcountry
- Feeding and caring for livestock
- Cleaning
- Shopping
- Meal planning
