Wild Goose Club in Northern California

We are seeking a trustworthy, mature, well-organized and efficient executive chef and chef’s assistant (two-person team) for a premier private hunting club near Gridley, CA for the 2023/2024 duck hunting season. The right person will love creating 4- and 5-star meals from scratch, and have a temperament that is flexible to last-minute changes, special requests and the differing personalities of the members being served. This position requires the ability to shop carefully for quality food and to manage the kitchen for efficiency, cleanliness and cost effectiveness. An ideal candidate should have exceptional culinary skills, and strong organizational skills with great attention to detail. You must be a self-starter, with a cheerful attitude and strong people skills.

Essential duties include:

  1. Creating and coordinating wonderful 4- and 5-star dining experiences based on preferences of club members. At times these meals will be family style or buffet style. At other times, the meals might be plated and served. Serving meals will also include dish cleanup and kitchen cleanup after meals.
  2. Maintain menu board.
  3. Perform grocery shopping and stock the club as needed.
  4. Maintain a meticulously clean prep kitchen.
  5. Observe occupational, health, and safety standards in the kitchen at all times.
  6. Perform any other miscellaneous tasks as requested by club manager.

Group size (generally): 8-18 members plus guests

Weekly work schedule will be:

  • Mid Oct to First weekend in February
  • Tuesday – Dinner
  • Wednesday – early breakfast and lunch
  • Friday – Dinner
  • Saturday – early breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Sunday – early breakfast and lunch

Housing: (2 bed 1 bath house) included in nearby Gridley

Pay:

Executive Chef: $5,500/month 4 months $22,000 + End of Season bonus $10k totaling $32k

Prep Chef/Assistant: $3850/month 4 months $15,400 + End of Season Bonus $4k totaling $19,400
