746 Ranch is a family owned 1,300 acre cow/calf operation. We currently run 150+ head of cattle, but will expand with new hire. This is a family ranch that has had cattle continuously for over 100 years. Range manager is moving closer to home in 30 days.

We want someone we can treat as family and trust as one of our own. The job is low stress but involves hard work. Our current manager works with little to no direction maintaining the property and watching over the operation. Will consider a married couple for housing. If children are included, we would need to possibly expand the current housing and are willing to consider, but only for the right person.

Our goal is to hire a good person that will work for the family for many years. We are a good Christian family, we take care of our ranch hands, and will have an environment that will provide a nice low stress life for the right person.

Job Responsibilities (Include but not limited to):

  • Communication with family on a constant and consistent basis.
  • Management of cattle including scheduled vaccinations, tagging, calving, and creating a cattle operation strategy for growth.
  • Maintain & improve facilities, fences, and ranch land.
  • Maintain roads and senderos on property by clearing shrub brush and mowing.
  • Operate tractor and mower/sprayer to clean up pastures.
  • Keep barn areas and improved areas such as docks around ponds mowed and clean.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to communicate with others ranch owners/family.
  • Self-starter, good at working alone, little direction needed, always find something that needs to be done even when not told.
  • Add value through recommending strategies for herd efficiencies and profitability.
  • Protecting the privacy of the ranch. (no hunting, no unauthorized guests of the family outside of living quarters)
  • General knowledge of water lines and maintaining water for animals.

Skills Nice to Have:

  • Basic mechanics for tractors and vehicles a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Basic carpentry/handyman skills
  • Horse experience to maintain potential ranch horses on site.

Salary & Expectations:

  • Employee housing on site w/electrical, internet, satellite tv, and water/utilities included, and a large 2 car/truck carport.
  • Salary based upon experience
  • No hunting on property. Must be treated as a sanctuary for the family and their guests.
  • Zero drug use policy. No heavy drinkers.
  • We have horses, but prefer a ranch hire to bring one or two of their own. Facilities available.
  • Welding a nice to have, but not necessary.
