Cannon Ranch, LLC is a 2,000 head cow-calf ranch spanning 3,700 deeded and 478,000 public acres. We are headquartered in Hiko, Nevada with a second division in Lund, Nevada. We pride ourselves with State-of-the-art facilities and management practices for efficiency while remembering “old school” expertise. We breed our own commercial Black Baldy heifers from our purebred black angus cows and Hereford bulls sourced from some of the finest seedstock producers in the country. Our farming division produces high quality hay and corn silage to support feeding calves in our own feedlot throughout the year. The ranch has many long-term employees and is a good family working environment.
Job Duties:
- This is an all-around ranch job and NOT a cowboy job therefore you must be versatile in general ranch skills.
- Irrigation: flood irrigating, operating, and maintaining pivots and basic mechanical skills.
- Operating machinery of all types. Both construction and farm equipment.
- Equipment maintenance and light duty repairs
- Fencing: Must be able to repair and build strong and straight 6 wire fences.
- Assist in working and processing cattle through the chute.
Candidates must:
- Have prior experience working as a Ranch Hand.
- Be willing to work 6 days per week. Off on Sundays each week (other than feeding)
- Be punctual, dependable, have common sense, and treat co-workers, animals, and equipment with respect.
- Be willing to work in an isolated area, 30 miles from basic services.
- Must be physically fit to complete job duties and be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Clean cut and a non-smoker, with no drug use.
- Must be willing to self-manage and work alone but also be able to work well with others.
- Be organized and help develop long-term goals.
- Candidate must be willing to “think outside the box” and be innovative with problem solving.
Candidates must successfully complete:
- Drug test (not just at application time but also random tests due to driving responsibilities.)
- Criminal background check.
- Personality test administered by a 3rd party service.
- Work references must be provided and will be checked.
Compensation Package:
- This is a full time, non-seasonal – long term position.
- Competitive salary based on skills and experience.
- Housing (Brand New) and utilities paid for by employer (not satellite TV).
- Ranch Truck and ATV provided.
- Half of Beef per year.

- Position reports to Division Manager.
Location: Lund, Nevada (36 Miles South of Ely, Nevada, 206 Miles North of Las Vegas, 313 miles from Salt Lake City). The population is approximately 250. About the town of Lund, Nevada: Lund is in White Pine County along NV State Route 318. It offers a combined K-12 school, five miles away with a bus stop in front of the ranch. There is a post office, gas station and café. Thirty-Six miles to the north is Ely, Nevada with a population of 5,000. It has the main grocery store, a hospital, restaurants, and most basic services needed.
