Large cattle ranch in Fayette County, TX looking for experienced ranch hand.
We have approximately 700 head of cattle, which we work horseback, so you need to be an experienced rider.
We have multiple hay pastures that we maintain regularly, so you must be experienced with cutting, raking and bailing hay. If equipment breaks, we fix it. We perform all regular maintenance in house as well.
This is a fast paced environment, and you must have the overall understanding of how a ranch operates. For example – If you know cattle in a certain pasture are running low on grass, you should feed them hay. Or, if you are directed to operate a certain piece of equipment, you should check all fluids first. If something is low, you fill it. If you have “downtime”, you check cattle, or perform equipment maintenance. Tasks such as these should happen without specific direction.
Other regular tasks could include – running/fixing water lines, ranch road maintenance, sorting/loading cattle for sale, checking fence lines, etc.
This is a 6-7 day a week job, depending on what is going on. We are family friendly, and housing is available for the right candidate. We do not tolerate any drama or excuses.
