Farm Laborer wanted for Ranch in Kentucky – Full-Time Position (40 hours weekly)
DESCRIPTION:
Looking for farm laborer to work and maintain 500 acres in rural Kentucky. No horses and No cattle. Applicants should be in good health, resourceful, addiction, and drug-free. There is a zero-tolerance policy for drugs on the property. Background check will be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be required to use a tractor for grading, maintenance, and gravel distribution. You will need to be proficient in farm equipment, mowing equipment, and weed-eaters during season, and in off season, you will need to Winterize and maintain. Maintenance of machinery is a must, as well as expertise with a chainsaw to remove downed limbs and trees. Fence maintenance is required. During hunting season, you will be required to monitor the property for illegal trespassing and/or hunting during early hours.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications include someone honest, reliable, trustworthy, and experienced in farming, chain sawing, weed-eating, tractor grading, and fencing repair. You must have a positive disposition, be able to work independently, and have excellent communication skills. Carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, automotive and diesel skills are a plus. Daily communication with the owner and of work performed requires phone and text, as well as task app such as Microsoft To-Do.
In addition, possible other tasks could include but are not limited to:
- (As above), Basic farm experience includes use, care, and maintenance of chainsaws, weed eaters, mowers, atvs, RTVs, chipper, Bobcat, John Deere Tractor, bush hogs, and repair roads and fences as needed.
- Light cleaning of main house and buildings, maintenance of main house grounds during season; lift heavy items, haul trash, as needed, light vacuuming of cat sanctuary houses, wash down exterior buildings, windows and areas as needed, care and maintenance of above ground pool and hot tub.
- Seasonal HVAC and/or generator maintenance experience a plus. You will be required to look at problem issues with various machines on farm and in the home first, prior to an experienced technician being called for any issues.
- Yard and property maintenance: manage weeds, monitor, and maintain seasonal irrigation, and start up, maintain and winterize farm equipment. Diesel mechanical experience a plus.
- Maintain electric gates at residences.
- Coordinate and meet with any approved vendor or contractor who visits the property.
- Provide or coordinate ATV and RTV (diesel) vehicle repairs on occasion.
- Hooking up flatbed trailer hitch to truck and providing help to lift boxes and equipment will be required.
- Purchase supplies for the property.
You will not be required to care for the cats in the sanctuary unless there is an unforeseen emergency. Farm vehicles are not to be taken off the property or used during off hours without prior written permission, unless they need to go to the repair shop.
Housing is included with electric (up to $250 monthly), water, and garbage. There is strict no smoking policy in the home. This is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, single-wide trailer, and is located on the farm/sanctuary site, with a separate address from the owner’s residence. It is secured with private electric gates for which you will be given a clicker and gate codes, and owner will drive to this residence at least twice daily as the cat sanctuary is on this property. Other work vendors also have use to this driveway if farmwork is needed. Extended-stay guests for more than 2 days and roommates in the house will require prior written approval. Pets will be considered.
The property is private, off the main road with electric gates, and exquisite, with deer roaming in wide open spaces. Super Walmart is less than 5 miles away and the town offers numerous restaurants.
