We have a 300 acre farm in NE Georgia. We breed Iberian horses.
The manager position requires knowledge of horses as there will be times, in an emergency, that a horses would need to be trailered to the vets if the owners are out of town. There will also be times that horses will need to be moved from one pasture to another.
We have a barn manager, so daily horse care is not required, but the water troughs will need to be dumped and filled twice weekly. We currently have 11 pastures/paddocks.
Manager must have knowledge of hay management ( we use outside sources for cutting and baling ) , fertilize, aerate and seed horse pastures, work with our extension agent, know how to maintain mowers, tractors, 4 wheelers, maintain fencing, hook up trailers, freeze prep, pick up and order supplies and parts, clean up fallen limbs and debris, keep storage buildings and tools clean and organized, check drains, drain pipes and ditches, muck out ( with tractor ) run in sheds, mow, edge and trim lawn areas around house, assist the gardener with pruning, move hay from main barn to the stables as needed, organize storage areas and inventory tools and materials, spray fence lines, mow pastures, etc.
We are a private facility with no drama. Couples are welcome as the housing provided is a 3 bedroom/2 bath brick house with central heat and air on the property.
Must be drug free, legal, and non smoking. Competitive compensation, 5 years experience necessary. Farm truck is available for farm use.
Salary: $40,000.00 to $50,000.00, depending on experience. Housing and utilities are included in this salary. Housing and utilities currently run about $2200.00/month in this area.
