Ranch/farm hand position available in central Wyoming, which could be a great opportunity for the right person.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- welding
- mechanical work
- general animal husbandry (beef cattle, horses) to include:
- – – calving
- – – feeding cattle and/or horses
- – – ensuring general health/welfare of livestock
- fence repair/installation
- irrigation duties
- set-up gated pipe
- maintain pivot irrigation system
- irrigating properties in the summer
- picking up irrigation pipe in the fall
- operate large machinery from skid steers to balers and tractors
- hauling cattle
- loading semi-trailers with hay
- maintaining/servicing large equipment
- keeping work areas clean and safe
- other duties as assigned
Employer will:
- allow some cattle to graze with his herd
- provide beef after 6 months of employment
- provide 1-week paid vacation after 1 year of employment
- provide housing (no utilities)
Additional notes:
- this is not a ‘cowboy’ position
- cattle are gathered predominately with ATV’s and sometimes horses
- farm ground consists of alfalfa and grass/alfalfa hay (no row crops)
- operation typically sells and ships 300 semi-loads of hay per year
Candidate must be a responsible self-starter with a positive attitude and willingness to take direction and work independently. Candidate must be drug free. Alcoholics, addicts, and criminals need not apply.
Pay: contingent on experience
