Backwoods Farmstead
This is an ideal position for a young couple. Shared housing with 2 other farmhands in their 20’s and a cat. Salary, housing and access to our raw milk, eggs, pasture raised meats including beef, chicken and pork and garden bounty during the growing seasons. This is a lifestyle job. We are looking for individuals who want to set down roots and understand the work that goes into farming and the joys of seeing your days work grow.
Gardener position will focus on our extensive kitchen gardens, flower cutting gardens, small orchards, berry gardens and wildflower seed program. This role needs to be filled by someone who has at least 2 years in a large garden setting. Our farm will be utilizing high tunnels and starter greenhouses for year-round production. Position involves a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent planning skills, a creative eye and most importantly a green thumb! Responsibilities include overseeing and implementing daily agricultural activities at the farm which include operation and maintenance of farm equipment, crop planning, soil preparation, starting seedlings, greenhouse transplanting, direct seeding, cultivation, crop maintenance, harvest, and post-harvest processing. We are ideally looking for someone who wants to help grow the garden into a farm stand / CSA business. We follow organic practices and strive to grow heirloom produce.
Housekeeper is a full time housekeeper/cook. We are looking for someone who is experienced, extremely detail oriented, enjoys organizing and is used to working in a busy household with children and pets underfoot. I need someone I do not need to task but can see what needs to be done with our hectic schedules. Tasks include whole house cleaning, organizing, laundry, cleaning common spaces on the farm ( guest house ect.), weekly grocery shopping runs, food prep/ quick meals, help with dinner parties and when we travel caring for the household pets. I need a second set of “mom hands”.
A few things to keep in mind. We are a family farm with kids. So no smoking/vaping/drugs/ excessive drinking. We run a background check. You must have a valid drivers license and a car. There are no exceptions to this. We are rural. Must be able to handle extreme weather events. Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly several days a week.
