Double R Guest Ranch
Position Overview:
Seeking an on-site Assistant Manager to work closely with the Owner to learn how the systems work at Double R Guest Ranch and be able to oversee, supervise, and run operations with a standard of excellence when the Owner is off site. This is a person who helps everything run smoothly behind the scenes as well as ensuring that each guest has a comfortable, safe and exceptional experience. We are known for our warm hospitality and personalized all-inclusive stays for individuals, families and groups. Our guided day rides into the adjacent Coronado National Forest are exceptional for all levels of riders. We have fun, love our animals, and enjoy life on our ranch with its beauty and tranquility.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaboration with the Owner and team members (staff and volunteers) to ensure each guest will have a “5 star experience”
Guest Services & Hospitality.
- Provide sincere and gracious hospitality to guests at all times
- Resolve any complaints with urgency and professionalism
- Manage reservations and check-in, check-out protocols
- Help arrange transfers to and from the ranch and airport
- Assist in setting up excursions for guests such as visiting Tombstone, local wineries or attending rodeos
- Coordinate VIP arrivals and accommodate special guest requests
Operations and Facilities Management
- Assist the Owner in hiring, training and scheduling seasonal staff across multiple departments (e.g. housekeeping, wranglers and cooks)
- Ensure health, safety and ranch rules are followed across the property at all times
- Oversee the general maintenance of lodging cabins, ranch infrastructure and grounds
- Ensure workspaces, barns and common areas remain clean and organized
- Supervise daily departmental checklists and hold team members accountable to ranch standards and standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate service visits with veterinarians, suppliers, contractors and the Owner
- Coordinate the set up of recreational activities which may include cookouts and campfires and other on site events
- Be available to fill in if there are unexpected staff absences except for Wrangling. Assist the Owner with securing staff substitutes
Business and Administrative Skills:
- Update the ranch website and social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram
- Process guest billing
- Inventory management and ordering supplies
- Record keeping
- Schedule labor and projects
- Prioritize competing demands
- Follow through on details to ensure commitments are actually completed
Supportive Leadership
- Facilitate effective staff briefings
- Supervise without micromanaging
- Coach rather than simply directing
- Recognize when someone needs encouragement versus accountability
- Remain approachable while maintaining standards
- Help staff feel motivated to succeed rather than just evaluating them
