Jenneration Ranch
Private operation developing an authentic working cattle ranch with guest (dude ranch) accommodations in Santa Barbara County is seeking a capable, hands-on individual with real cattle and horse experience to join as a core team member.
This is a ground-up build. We are creating a genuine working ranch that will also host overnight guests, and we need someone who understands livestock and can contribute practical skills, good judgment, and collaborative ideas as the operation takes shape.
Core skills & responsibilities:
- Solid cattle experience (handling, moving, basic herd care, fencing for livestock, and general cattle work are highly valued)
- Strong mechanical aptitude — able to diagnose and fix older trucks, equipment, and small engines in a pinch
- Fence building and repair (especially livestock fencing)
- General construction and structure building (pens, barns, shelters, cabins, etc.)
- Confident operating a tractor and other ranch equipment
- Ability to safely tow and trailer equipment, livestock, or trailers
- Basic horseback riding skills and solid horse experience (care, handling, and working cattle from horseback preferred)
Strongly preferred:
- Broader cattle ranching background
- Rodeo experience (roping, sorting, or related skills)
- Willingness (or preference) to live on the ranch
Who we’re looking for: Someone with a friendly, warm personality who is outdoorsy, creative in problem-solving, and enjoys exchanging ideas about how to thoughtfully build a working cattle ranch that also offers authentic overnight guest experiences. Traditional work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely on the bigger vision are essential.
This role suits a self-motivated person who takes pride in real cattle and ranch work and wants to help create something lasting rather than simply maintain an existing place.
Details:
- Location: Santa Barbara County, California (Central Coast)
- Position: Full-time preferred; open to discussing structure for the right person
- Housing: On-ranch living is a plus and can be discussed
- Compensation: Competitive and based on experience and contribution — to be discussed with qualified applicants
TO APPLY:
To apply: Please email a brief introduction about yourself, your cattle and ranch experience, mechanical/construction background, horse skills, and why this type of role interests you. Include a resume or work history if available. Photos of past projects or relevant work are welcome but not required.
We look forward to hearing from solid, capable people who understand cattle/horses and enjoy building a real working ranch from the ground up.
