We are seeking a reliable and skilled Groundskeeper/Handyman to help maintain the buildings, barns, grounds, and equipment at a private farm. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and proactively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily care and upkeep of all farm grounds, walkways, and outdoor spaces.
- Maintain and clean barns and office, including restrooms, workshop, and equipment storage areas.
- Remove trash and debris from all buildings and grounds.
- Perform minor landscaping tasks: remove weeds, trim small shrubs, edge beds around buildings.
- Inspect and maintain outdoor lighting and flag any safety hazards.
- Perform basic maintenance on tractors and groundskeeping equipment.
- Perform minor repairs (e.g., painting, woodwork, light plumbing, hardware replacement).
- Develop and follow preventive maintenance plans for mechanical systems across the property.
- Implement and prepare winterization plans for the property and equipment.
- Schedule and supervise vendors and contractors working on-site.
- Care for and maintain personal vehicles: regular wash, fuel-up, and track scheduled service.
- Maintain and support horse walker equipment, waterers, fans, and other farm systems.
- Run local errands as needed (parts pickup, tools, fuel and as directed by Principals).
- Anticipate issues before they arise and take proactive steps to address them.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in property maintenance, landscaping, or farm work preferred.
- Skilled in using and maintaining hand tools, power tools, and farm equipment.
- Ability to ride, operate, and maintain tractors and related implements.
- Familiar with basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
- Strong sense of initiative and the ability to work independently.
- Must be local to Lexington, have a valid driver’s license, and own transportation.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various outdoor conditions.
- Must pass a background check and be eligible to work in the U.S.
