Cook Job Description
Ring Lake Ranch, a non-profit, ecumenical retreat center, provides “renewal in sacred wilderness” by offering week-long retreats that include evening seminars, trail rides, hikes in the mountains, and interaction with fascinating people. Ring Lake Ranch is located in the Wind River Mountains about 10 miles outside Dubois, WY. We are 70 miles west of Jackson Hole, and 90 miles from Yellowstone.
Our cooks prepare 3 buffet meals a day for between 25-40 guests and about a dozen staff. As a non-profit retreat center, we function as a community; our guests and staff take meals and do dishes together. Our cooks prepare meals, supervise kitchen cleanup, and track inventory throughout the week. The Head Cook provides menus, though we encourage collaboration among the kitchen staff.
The salary for cook is $650/week with room and board provided, along with any gratuity left by guests split evenly among summer staff.

The position begins on May 17th and ends when the Ranch closes on September 5th. We are not able to sponsor visas. The Ranch completes a background check on all staff.

Cook Qualifications:
- Experience cooking efficiently for large groups, including those with dietary restrictions
- Availability to meet guest needs and work collegially with staff
- Physical ability to prepare meals, live, and move comfortably in a high-altitude environment
- Can lift 30-40 pounds
- Maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment
- Be ServSafe certified
- Plan ahead for upcoming meals and ensure ingredients are properly defrosted and prepped ahead of time.
Head Cook Qualifications:
- Experience cooking efficiently for large groups, including those with dietary restrictions
- Experience with menu planning for all types of dietary needs
- Ability to track inventory
- Ability to place food orders and coordinate deliveries and unpacking
- Can lift 30-40 pound food cartons
- Availability to meet guest needs and work collegially with staff
- Physical ability to prepare meals, live, and move comfortably in a high-altitude environment
- Maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment
- Be ServSafe certified
- Plan ahead for upcoming meals and ensure ingredients are properly defrosted and prepped ahead of time.
