About Us:
Black Butte Stables provides trail riding services (among other things) to the public. We want to ensure our identity and vision are maintained through a customized environment so each one of our guests leave the Stables with a new found love for horses and a riding experience they will never forget all while keeping our many horses happy, healthy and safe. We are located in Sisters, OR in the beautiful central Oregon mountains.
Job Role and Summary:
We are looking for an independent trainer to assist with training and starting young horses to work at our stables where we provide guided trail rides to the public as well as prepare a select few for sale. We offer year round housing with space to keep personal horse(s).
Responsibilities:
Trainer is responsible for training horses to saddle, to obey commands, analyzing horses’ dispositions for possible behavioral problems, training to prevent future behavioral problems, teaching horses to perform various exercises that pertain to taking inexperienced riders out on the trail.
Qualifications:
Must have experience training horses to industry standards this is not a cowboy job we expect natural horsemanship methods we like to see wet saddle blankets with fair expectations of the horse.
Skills:
- Must be highly knowledgeable about horse breeds, behavior, nutrition and natural habitat
- Must have a solid background in equine training, horse management, and western riding styles
- Familiar with horse diet, grooming and physical condition
- Must me highly enthusiastic and compassionate about animals
- Must be reliable, dependable and responsible
- Must have outstanding interpersonal skills
- Must be able to adapt quickly and thoroughly to situations and changes
- Must have excellent decision making and problem solving skills
- Must have exceptional time management skills
- Must quickly process verbal communication skills and have impeccable listening skills
- Must be able to work alone and in a team setting
- MUST BE HIGHLY SELF MOTIVATED
