Camp Hermanas Ranch is an intensely managed, recreational hunting ranch. We are looking for a handy-man type person (or couple) who pays extreme attention to detail. The ranch is primarily used for entertaining guests and hunting deer and quail, but cattle are also used to manage the wildlife habitat.

Foreman Duties Include:

  • Helping host and making sure guests have a great experience
  • Maintenance of three houses, a ten room lodge, and a party barn (cooking and cleaning is currently outsourced but we would consider giving those duties to a spouse)
  • Grounds keeping and landscaping
  • Feeder filling and maintenance of feeders
  • Maintenance of water lines and troughs
  • Maintenance and minor repair on jeeps and side by sides
  • Maintenance and operation of tractors and skid steer
  • Maintenance of perimeter high fence
  • Horse feeding, exercising, and guiding guests on rides
  • Guiding hunts, gutting and skinning game
  • Keeping store room stocked with household items and drinks
  • Checking water and mineral for cattle
  • Working closely with on-staff wildlife biologist

As foreman, you will work alone most of the time with the exception of an intern during the summer. We don’t want to micromanage. We will communicate clear expectations to you; how you produce the expected outcome is totally up to you. Outside of hunting season, time off and vacation are wide open, provided the owner’s expectations are met.

The on-staff biologist will provide plans for habitat improvement, grazing management, and wildlife management. The foreman’s input on these plans is welcomed and expected. The biologist will also handle all paperwork associated with the various government permits and programs the ranch participates in.

This is a very fun but challenging job. The owner’s expectations are high, the hours are long during hunting season, and summers in South Texas are very hot. Hunting season can be taxing, but when it is over, you almost have the ranch to yourself for the summer.

TO APPLY:

Please e-mail Hunter a resume and a short cover letter telling us a little about yourself and what made you want to apply.
