BK Ranch
The BK Ranch is looking for a long-term ranch hand on a small Horse Boarding operation in Nevis MN. This is a unique opportunity where room and board are in exchange for ranch work.
In this agreement, the ranch hand candidate completes daily morning and evening chores (as required) in exchange for room and board. This includes an efficiency apartment with a full bathroom, kitchen, as well as washer and drier. Vacation and time off are negotiable.
Proficiency in ranch work includes work with horses and donkeys, feeding, herd health, operating equipment, general equipment and vehicle maintenance. Currently we are boarding seven horses and two donkeys. New boarders do happen; however, our open pastures only support 16 horses.
We sit on a homestead near the Paul Bunyan Reserve. If you have never lived outside the city limits, welcome to the “rural” life. If you are not intrinsically motivated (self-starter), dependable and not afraid to jump in where help is needed, do not apply.
Couples can apply especially if both are proficient in aspects of ranch work. Horses and pets are not allowed without permission and proper medical documentation in advance.
This is a long-term position, so renter’s insurance is highly recommended. Any candidate needs to understand that this is a job and is responsible for chores on this working ranch. Therefore, it is a requirement to have health insurance. The BK Ranch or its owners do not carry insurance to cover any ranch hand’s property or injuries that might be sustained.
