LOCATION: 17 miles outside of Telluride, CO, elevation 9,000 ft.
`POSITION OVERVIEW: Seeking a seasoned, experienced, and dynamic couple to oversee year-round farm duties. Applicants must be mechanically proficient, self-starters, and experienced with farm animals, especially horses. The caretakers are expected to take initiative beyond routine tasks and constantly strive to improve the land and facilities, in aesthetes, efficiency, and functionality.
Responsibilities
- Maintain best practices in all farm operations, a proactive approach including long-term planning for repairs
- Care for animals, feeding, watering, mucking stalls, overseeing visits from blacksmiths and veterinarians. Ensuring our small head of horses are cared for at all times.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all structures, utility systems, and machinery.
- Snow plowing roadways.
- Managing winter pathways and structures.
- Haul, buck firewood and hay
- Maintain fence lines and pastures.
- Assessing and restoring pasture quality, managing dead trees and vegetation.
- Supervising and coordinating contractors as needed, working collaboratively to expedite projects.
- Monitoring project timelines and work methods to ensure efficiency and compliance with farm standards.

Qualifications:
- Strong experience in farm management and animal husbandry.
- Mechanical aptitude and handyman skills.
- Proactive attitude and ability to work independently.
- Must be in good health, able to move up to 100 pounds, and capable of handling the physical demands of farm work at a high elevation.
- A positive approach to interpersonal relationships.
Housing: Beautiful stand-alone fully furnished and equipped house. All utilities included.
Note: Caretakers are expected to have their own source of income. This is not a paid position. It is a work exchange. Caretakers must have their own 4×4 vehicle.
