A private 400-acre exotic deer ranch near Boerne, TX is seeking a reliable Independent Contractor Part-Time Ranch Hand / Groundskeeper to support animal care and property maintenance. This role is ideal for someone experienced with ranch operations, including landscaping, fencing, and supporting breeding/hunting programs.
Groundskeeping & Ranch Maintenance
- General lawn maintenance around houses, roads, and gate, plus brush and tree trimming
- Fence line inspection for maintenance and predator control
- Operating and maintaining tractors, UTVs, mower and small farming equipment
- Assist with general repairs on the ranch and houses (fencing, irrigation, water/well systems, etc.)
- Meeting other vendors as needed on property, monitor and review work
- Minor road repair if necessary
Breeding and Hunting Program
- Assisting with basic animal care and monitoring exotic deer
- Planting food plots for deer
- Coordinating with vendors and help with the sales of animals
- Feeding animals
- Maintaining pens, feeders and hunting blinds
- Assist with paid hunts as required
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of ranch experience, preferably with exotic deer
- Reliable personal truck suitable for ranch use and occasional hauling
- Experience safely operating ranch and farm equipment
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Experience towing and hauling a trailer
Preferred:
- Prior work with exotic deer or wildlife experience
- Mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting/repair
- Welding and fabrication skills
Contract Terms
- Competitive hourly pay based on experience

- Contractor is responsible for maintaining appropriate licensing, insurance, and tax reporting requirements
