Rooster Egg Farms
We are Rooster Egg Farms, a small, regenerative farm in Morgan County GA outside Athens that raises chickens, ducks, and geese. We sell table eggs, hatching eggs, and chicks. We also make some of our income through a farm stay and providing farm tours to guests. We selectively breed our birds for health, size, and temperament and keep them on-pasture for much of their adult life.
We are Army vets with a tech & statistician background and we approach small farming with an experimental and artful mindset. Our long terms goals include:
- incorporating tech at a small and sustainable scale that other small farmers can also replicate
- making our farm an off-grid resiliency hub for the community
- building a farm store
- selling meat and additional farm products
- building and running a farm restaurant or food truck
- expanding our hospitality offerings & hosting retreats
We are in the early stages of our business and growing. We are looking for folks who are flexible, love learning, or could even teach us a thing or two. It’s important that you be willing to help with a variety of projects from construction to animal care to solar installation. While it’s a nice bonus if you already have some experience in gardening, construction, or animal handling, it’s not important that you know everything already. We will teach you, learn from you, and learn with you along the way.
Assist with:
- Chores for chickens, ducks, and geese
- Incubating, hatching, and brooding chicks, ducklings, and goslings
- Animal husbandry/selection
- Meat processing
- Garden planning, planting, and harvesting
- Landscaping
- Building and maintaining farm and guest stay infrastructure
- Solar installations (you will be trained, we are NABCEP certified)
