We live in a lovely part of Northern CA, on a small horse ranch. (There are no horses here now, but we would consider having yours live here if you do.) It is a country property that needs year-round maintenance as well as garden/land upkeep. It is not a full-time job however, and we do have a very nice furnished, one bedroom Cottage that we would offer on a reduced rental rate in exchange for your work to keep up the property in general, and perhaps take care of our resident pets if/when we are away. (We live on the property as well, in a separate building.)

Skills required are: a good and honest work ethic; strong communication skills; physical fitness; basic property maintenance skills such as light carpentry, garden machine operation (weed whacker, riding mower, hedge trimmers, and including chain saw), painting, gutter cleaning; household maintenance skills such as light plumbing, light electrical, grouting, etc.; and basic garden upkeep skills including pruning, fertilizing, and debris clean-up.

Highly desirable skills include: attention to detail (fastidious) in your work and in the care of living spaces; excellent references; quiet living habits; appreciation of/for nature; environmentally conscientious; love of animals; respect for and kindness to others.

This position is ideally for one person. Pets are negotiable. We have all of the tools and equipment that you will need for basic jobs, and of course, will purchase project-specific items when needed.

Please be aware that the cost of living in CA is high, as would be the cost to rent our one-bedroom fully furnished Cottage without any adjustment made for work done by you on our property. Therefore, while we are negotiable on all aspects of this arrangement, there would be some cash outlay on your part for rent, regardless of what we agree in terms of work/services. Our thoughts are that you may work 20 hours per month on average.
