About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced, trustworthy, and hands-on Property & Livestock Manager to oversee and assist with daily operations on a working family farm. This role requires extensive experience with animals, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to problem-solve across a wide range of farm systems. You are passionate about farming as both a calling and a craft.

The ideal candidate grew up on a farm or has ~10+ years of property, livestock or farm hand experience. They are faith-aligned and have a strong moral character, values stewardship, are honest, hard working, dependable, and take pride in maintaining both a productive farm and a welcoming environment.

Responsibilities:

Livestock Care & Handling 

  • Daily care and management of various farm animals: cattle, horses, donkeys, and other livestock and future animals
  • Safe, confident operation in corrals, chutes, and handling systems
  • Handling, haltering, loading, transporting, and delivering livestock
  • Confident in administering medications (ex: deworm, fly tags) and monitoring livestock health; ability to respond and report emergencies promptly
  • Order, organize and maintain farm inventory: livestock medications, feed, supplies, equipment, etc

Equipment, Vehicles & Machinery

  • Safely operate tractors, farm machinery, vehicles, and trailers efficiently (onsite farm vehicle provided)
  • Ability to trailer livestock and large equipment with confidence
  • Properly service and perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on all family vehicles ensuring they are always operational (ex: cars, SUV’s, trucks, trailers, 4-wheelers, tractors, etc)

Pasture, Land & Infrastructure Management

  • Knowledge of pasture grasses, including planting schedules, grass selection, gardening, and proper fertilization schedules
  • Maintain exceptionally  healthy pastures and support rotational grazing
  • Build, repair, and maintain property fencing (wood, wire, electric fencing)
  • Maintain and troubleshoot livestock, irrigation, and garden water systems

Farm Appearance & Hosting Readiness

  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-kept barns, grounds, equipment, and work areas presentable at all times
  • Prepare the farm for hosting family, friends, and guests year-round
  • Friendly, personable, and enthusiastic in showcasing the property and educating guests about the grounds
  • Comfortable as the property’s primary point of contact with a servant-heart mentality

Construction & Skilled Labor

  • Assist and partner with any construction, woodworking, and general building projects
  • Perform repairs and improvements across farm structures
  • Basic electrical experience is a strong plus

Safety, Family & Emergency Readiness

  • In an emergency, ability to be onsite in a short notice timeframe (15-30 minutes)
  • Calm, level-headed, and capable in the event of medical or farm-related emergencies
  • Comfortable working around children and dogs
  • Willing to take on the physical demands and inherent risks of farm work
  • Not afraid of long hours, hands-on labor, or challenging situations

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of property, livestock or farm hand experience
  • Extensive farm experience
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours (including weekends, holidays)
  • Must be based in Awendaw or McClellanville, SC
