This is a 50 acre river front property (10 miles south of Brady, Texas) and the perfect candidate would be an individual or a couple team (no kids) with significant experience in similar situation working or managing a rural property. You have expertise in all aspects of ranch management and are able to advise the owner. The owner does not live on site, so you are a hard worker in unsupervised situations and must be able to complete projects and work independently. You have experience operating and maintaining major ranch systems and equipment, some mechanical skills with tools, landscaping, irrigation, general carpentry and construction, fencing and repair, livestock, and housekeeping. You can communicate frequently and clearly with absentee owner on projects and issues and can use a computer for email. Wildlife management and farming experience a plus.
The spouse will perform thorough housekeeping for the main house, light laundry and (grocery shopping and help with cooking on occasion when the owners visit) and help with grounds for absentee owners.
Other duties include groundskeeping, irrigation, lawn care, fence and road maintenance, equipment upkeep, building maintenance and projects, pool care, light construction, painting, game management, wildlife crop farming on occasion and possible other light farming (hay and to be determined), security, oversight of major projects, buying supplies. Management of a handful of cattle. (this is not really a “cattle ranching” job).
In addition to frequent visits by the absentee owners – short term renters and friends may rent and use the property. The house/grounds needs to be prepared for guests and after each visit/use of the main ranch house and other ranch buildings, you will need to clean and maintain the buildings. Assist on site as needed when owners or guests are visiting the property. Available to work some weekends as needed to help with entertaining guests. Flexible with work schedule as this is not always an 8-5 job.
Depending on work flow – coming to San Angelo one day a week (70 miles away) to help with lawn care and housekeeping at the owner's private residence is a possibility.
Housing and vehicle possible – A new 1 bedroom/1 bathroom 5-600 sq foot casita is being constructed on the property. You can also bring your RV if you prefer. It is a beautiful piece of property in the hill country and has river frontage.
