Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced and highly motivated Ranch Caretaker to oversee the daily operations of central Texas ranch. The ideal candidate will be responsible for livestock (primarily cattle) management, pasture maintenance, equipment upkeep, and overall ranch productivity. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience in ranch management and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily care, feeding, records and health of livestock, ensuring high welfare standards.
- Manage and maintain pastures, maintain fencing, irrigation, and overall land health. Work with Ranch Owner to establish a yearly plan, including repairing old fences, spraying fields, working mechanically in fields.
- This job will be about showing initiative and getting it done, it is NOT supervision.
- Maintain ranch equipment, vehicles, and facilities, ensuring all are in good working condition.
- Maintain around Ranch Owners home, including mowing, plant upkeep and getting recreational equipment ready for when owners come to stay.
- Develop and implement rotational grazing, feeding, and breeding programs to optimize ranch productivity.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding livestock and land management.
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.
- This job will require some Saturdays to get things done and to meet with the owners to establish priorities for the coming weeks.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience in ranch maintenance, livestock care, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of cattle, horses, or other livestock management.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining ranch equipment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
