The Ranch Caretaker will live on property and will oversee the maintenance, security and up-keep of the 2,000-acre ranch. A successful candidate will be able to repair wooden and metal structures, operate and maintain tractors and other light machinery, use chainsaws to down and remove timber and be proactive in mowing, trimming, and maintaining the grounds. Maintenance and upkeep of recreation areas around small lake, including equipment and structures used on the lake for recreation. This position is meant for a person or couple who will live on the property year-round and be responsible for almost every aspect of the ranch. It is expected that the Ranch Caretaker/Manager will update ownership via text, WhatsApp, and phone calls on a regular basis to ensure timely communication.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintaining clear roadways throughout the ranch, down tree removal and repairs as needed
- Mowing, Trimming, and maintaining of the grounds
- Maintenance and up-keep of any building structures
- Repair and up-keep of gates, fences, and other barriers
- Operate, maintain and complete routine ATV, farm & heavy equipment maintenance
- Operation of Dozer and Backhoe
- Maintenance and upkeep of beach and recreation area around lake, and up-keep and setup of recreational equipment and toys
- Routinely check gates and all access points to ensure security
- Coordinate drilling of wells and water storage, maintain weir
- Reservoir water quality, systems maintenance and water usage reporting
- Operate, maintain and complete routine fire truck maintenance & outfitting
- Improve secure storage areas for equipment and materials
- Maintain and secure fuel tanks
- Coordinate vendor access, such as electrical, gas, telecom, waste and other services on the property
- Maintain existing landscape and irrigation systems at houses
- Store and maintain furniture, dishes, party supplies, lake toys and other items are required for owner use
- Other ranch duties as necessary, dependent on season and desired by owner
- Weekend hours required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing a ranch with limited oversight
- Ability to pick up and move heavy objects
- General knowledge with equipment
- General knowledge with maintaining large amount of land
- Ability to work in a variety of environments, rain, cold, or heat
- A positive attitude
- Reliable transportation
- Physical strength and stamina
- A practical mind and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility for changing tasks and assignments
- Organizational skills, to complete projects and varied demands
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Valid driver license with clean driving record
